About the Chicago Blues Festival
Chicago didn't create the Blues so much as it took the acoustic music of the rural South and molded it into a northern, urban, electrified thing. Nevertheless, it's an international event when Chicago gets a serious case of the blues these day, the Chicago Blues Festival is the largest free-admission blues festival in the world, with five stages of more than 60 performances. Grant Park, situated on Chicago's scenic lakefront, is jam-packed for three days with dozens of bands and thousands of fans, all celebrating the blues in the city that helped make them famous.
