Airport Facilities
Restaurants and cafeterias are located in all Terminals in the Departures and Arrivals areas, opening hours depend on the flight timetable but the 'Colonia' buffet-bar is open 24 hours a day. Other services include a post office (located in Arrivals areas B and C) and duty-free (Departures only) as well as other shops, travel agents, executive lounges, banks, ATMs and foreign currency exchange facilities.
Disabled Facilities
Disabled travellers are advised to request assistance/accompaniment and/or a wheelchair when booking their flight. Airport toilets and telephones are wheelchair-accessible; toilets are located on the Arrivals level near stairs/lift 2 in region B and near stairs/lift 5 in region C. For further information (tel:220 34 04 001/002). There is an elevator for wheelchairs in stairs/lift 3 between entrances B and C. Parking spaces are reserved for disabled passengers on the Arrivals level in front of stairs/lift 3, on the Departures level in front of stairs/lifts 3 and 4 and in multi-storey car park P2, level 4.
Business Facilities
Conference rooms for six to 200 persons at the airport can be rented from the Stockheim Conference Centre (tel:220 39 55 90 0, fax:220 39 55 90 50) or the Holiday Inn Conference Centre (tel:220 35 61 23 6, fax:220 35 61 64 6); phones and fax are available and IT equipment can be provided on request.
Car Rental
Companies include Alamo, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Budget and Sixt. All rental car agencies are located in Arrivals area 'D'. Vehicle return is at car park 2.
Car Parking
There are three parking structures. Reservations can be made for women-only and security-monitored car parking spaces (tel:220 34 02 11 6). There is a shuttle bus from parking structure 3 to the Terminals. Parking spaces are reserved for disabled passengers on the Arrivals level in front of stairs/lift 3, on the Departures level in front of stairs/lifts 3 and 4 and in multi-storey car park P2, level 4.
Driving Directions
Cologne is a European motorway network hub and the city is encircled by a closed motorway ring. The airport itself was designed as a 'drive-in airport' and a motorway spur runs right up to the Terminals linking Cologne/Bonn directly with the German motorway network and Europe. Highway A59 leads directly to the airport.
Public Transport & Taxis
Airport shuttles are available to and from Cologne and Bonn every 15 minutes from Monday to Friday and every 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday (journey time approximately 20 minutes to Cologne and 40 minutes to Bonn). Taxis are readily available outside Terminals 1 and 2; a taxi from the airport to Cologne city centre takes around 15 minutes. In 2002 a railway station will open beneath Terminal 2 and regional, as well as high-speed European network trains, will begin serving the airport.
