Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is an airport in Romulus, Michigan, near Detroit, Michigan. It is a major hub for Northwest Airlines and has the IATA Airport Code DTW.
On August 16, 1987, a Northwest Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-9 crashed on take-off from DTW. All but one passenger on the aircraft was killed; the lone survivor was a young girl. On December 3, 1990, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9 carrying Northwest Airlines Flight 1482 collided with a Boeing 727 carrying Northwest Airlines Flight 299 on one of DTW's runways, which killed 8 passengers and 4 crewmembers aboard flight 1482.
