About the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The world's largest celebration of the arts, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is a massive explosion of cultural and artistic expression. Every available and conceivable performance space plays host to a packed program of events, as the city streets fill with festival-goers, performers, celebrities, tourists and media-types. The sheer volume of events on offer (around 20,000 individual performances) can be bewildering. The Fringe is a festival open to all performers, with no selection process. The unpredictable pick'n'mix nature of the Fringe is, however, one of its greatest charms.
