About the Glastonbury Festival
Glastonbury, the UK's biggest, best and most famous music festival, has got the green light for 2003. Organized by Michael Eavis, it has been held on his property, Worthy Farm in Somerset, since its inception over 30 years ago. Inspired by the Bath Blues Festival, the Glastonbury Festival (or Fayre, as it was formerly called) was first held in September 1970 and has grown from a 1500-person event to one which attracted over 150,000 people in 2002. Although it began as an autumnal affair, the festival is now held around the time of the Summer Solstice and symbolizes the celebration of life.
