Nat Bailey Stadium

One of the oldest structures in the Minor League Baseball still in play today is Vancouver's Nat Bailey Stadium. Built in 1951, it was originally named Capilano Stadium after a local brewery. The stadium was renamed in 1978 when the Triple A Vancouver Canadians entered their inaugural season in the Pacific Coast League. Its namesake, Nat Bailey, was a longtime supporter of baseball in the Vancouver area and the first owner of the popular White Spot restaurant chain.

The "Nat" is primarily used for baseball but the venue also supports the occasional concert. Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan headlined a group of leading female singers in a day-long festival at Nat Bailey on September 14, 1996. The event was such a success Mclachlan launched a North American Tour the following year called Lilith Fair (based on the same format), which turned into one of the top concert draws of the past several years.
