Our Student Body: We have 24,304 students representing 42 U.S. states and 84 foreign countries. They're a culturally diverse group and they come from a broad economic spectrum. Three-fifths are under 26 years old. About 68 percent of them are enrolled to earn a bachelor's degree.
The Campus: The main campus, in the heart of Akron, Ohio, has 81 buildings on 180 acres. Landmarks include the high-tech Goodyear Polymer Center, the renowned E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall and the stately Buchtel Hall.
Academic Choices: More than 200 undergraduate majors and areas of study; more than 100 master's degree options; 17 doctoral degree programs; and four law degrees.
Our Distinguished Faculty: We have more than 780 full-time members, about three-quarters of whom hold a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their fields.
Our Student Organizations: There are about 200 student groups, including eight sororities, 13 fraternities and 28 honorary societies.
The Academic Year: We have two 15-week semesters, the first beginning in August and the second in January. There also is an optional 15-week summer semester.
Tuition and Costs: Full-time tuition is $6,808.80 for two semesters for Ohio residents; parking is $220 per academic year. The surcharge for nonresident students is $249.65 per credit hour. For books and supplies, estimate about $1,000 for the academic year. The Community and Technical College is $2,810.52 a semester for Ohioans. For nonresident students in the Community and Technical College the surcharge is $235.53 per credit hour. (All tuition, fees and estimates are subject to change. Based on your class selection, academic level and major, you may be assessed miscellaneous fees.)
Room Fees and Meal Plans: Room costs are $4,000 and up, depending on the location per academic year. Meal plan options run from $2,150 to $2,641 per academic year, depending on the number of meals chosen.
Sports: We have 18 NCAA Division I-A Intercollegiate Athletic teams for men and women that compete in the Mid-American Conference. We also have dozens of club and intramural sports, from flag football and golf to tennis and water polo.
