About the US Open
Bethpage State Park, Long Island has been chosen to host the 102nd US Open. One of the four major championships, this event is one of the highlights in the world's sporting calendar, attracting enormous media attention across the globe. The tournament moves around the US from year to year. Given the financial reward and unparalleled prestige that the Open affords, all the major golf courses are desperate to be selected as host. It is somewhat surprising, therefore, that this year's open will be played, for the first time in history, at a daily-fee public course that is accessible to the average golfer.
